Effective date: October 1, 2026
CroCapture is a screenshot and annotation app for macOS made by CroWall. This policy explains what information CroCapture handles and how. In short: CroCapture does not collect any personal information, and everything it does happens on your Mac.
1. Information we collect
None. CroCapture does not collect, store on our servers, or share any personal data — no names, email addresses, screenshots, screen contents, usage analytics, device identifiers, or location.
2. Information stored on your Mac
CroCapture keeps a few preferences on your Mac so it works the way you left it:
- your capture keyboard shortcut and whether to launch at login;
- the color, line width, text size and mosaic options you last used;
- the folder you last saved a screenshot to;
- whether macOS has already asked you for the Screen Recording permission.
Screenshots exist only in your Mac's memory while you are capturing. When you finish, the image goes only where you send it — to the clipboard, or to a file in the location you choose — and CroCapture keeps no copy.
3. Screen Recording permission and the macOS sandbox
To take screenshots, macOS requires you to grant CroCapture the Screen Recording permission. CroCapture uses it only to capture an image of your screen at the moment you start a capture, so you can select and annotate part of it. The image is never transmitted anywhere.
CroCapture runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It can only write files to the location you pick in the Save dialog.
4. Network use
CroCapture does not connect to the internet. It makes no network requests, automatic or otherwise. The website link in the About window simply opens crowall.com in your web browser.
5. Third-party services and code
CroCapture contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or other third-party SDKs.
6. Children
CroCapture does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
7. Your rights
All of CroCapture's data stays on your Mac and under your control; CroWall holds no personal information about you. To remove CroCapture's preferences, delete the app and its container folder (~/Library/Containers/com.crowall.CroCapture). You can revoke the Screen Recording permission at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will publish the new version here with a new effective date, and mention significant changes in the app's release notes.
