Resize a batch, compress it, convert it to the format you actually need. Do that every week and the repetitive part is not the processing — it is clicking through the same three tools in the same order, every single time.
Workflows, new in CroImage 3.0, fix that order in place. Set one up once; after that you pick it, bring in your images, and the rest runs on its own.
What a workflow is
A workflow is a reusable, ordered sequence of processing steps. Every step is one of the tools the app already has — Compress, Convert, Resize — applied to the same batch in the order you decide.
You can create, edit and delete workflows. A workflow can hold several steps, and when the order is wrong, drag the icon in front of a step to move it.
Every workflow ends in a Save step
Save is required, and it decides where the processed images go and what they are called.
By default they land in the save folder from your settings; point the step somewhere else if this batch belongs elsewhere. If the app does not yet have permission to write to the folder you choose, it asks for it.
Filenames are built from placeholders — the original filename, a sequence number, the date, the time, the date and time together — each with its own format. On a large batch, that is the difference between files that arrive correctly named and an afternoon of renaming.
Running one
Select the workflow, import your images, and each one passes through every step in turn until it is saved. There is nothing to supervise in between, which is the whole point when the batch is large and the steps never change.
Two worth keeping
Artwork for a website, where dimensions, file size and format are all prescribed:
Resize → Compress → Convert → Save
And when all you need is a different format at a consistent size:
Resize → Convert → Save
Save both. Next time, picking one is the entire job.
